This gentle, yin-inspired yoga practice is a sanctuary of calm designed to soothe the nervous system and create space for ease and release. Perfect for the beginning of a busy week or a moment of stillness during a hectic season, the session blends guided breathwork, mindful movement, and long-held supportive poses.
The practice begins seated, inviting you to settle into stillness while connecting with the breath. Focused on deep belly breathing, you’ll gently awaken your body and signal safety to your nervous system, shifting from stress and tension into a state of rest and restoration. A breath rhythm of inhaling for four and exhaling for six helps to deepen this sense of calm, guiding you into a meditative awareness of your physical and emotional state.
The session weaves in subtle hand movements—a flowing meditation that grounds your focus and offers ease when stillness feels challenging. Through simple gestures of opening and closing the hands, you explore a balance of releasing what no longer serves you and welcoming in fresh, supportive energy.
As the practice deepens, you’ll transition into soothing poses like a supported forward fold (Dangling Pose) and Heart-to-Earth Pose (Puppy Pose). These shapes allow the spine, shoulders, and hips to release stored tension while props such as bolsters and cushions provide comfort and support. With each exhale, you’re encouraged to soften further, trusting the body’s ability to let go and recalibrate.
The class culminates in a restful Child’s Pose, where you’ll integrate the benefits of the practice. Here, guided breathwork creates an expansive sense of space within—a counter to the busy fullness that life often brings. With a focus on deep, nourishing breaths and compassionate self-awareness, this final moment serves as a reminder to honour what you need more of and what you need less of in the days ahead.
Whether you show up with a busy mind, heavy shoulders, or a sense of exhaustion, this practice offers a space to pause, release, and reconnect. It’s a loving invitation to listen deeply to yourself, to breathe fully, and to move through life with softness and intention.
